Are you a dynamic and detail-oriented professional with a passion for managing the intricacies of loan operations? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you. We are seeking a Lending Manager for our client based in Tonbridge, to take responsibility for loan origination, management, and ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures. You'll play a crucial role in safeguarding their financial institution while facilitating lending to deserving borrowers.

Overall Purpose of the Lending Manager

As the Lending Manager, your responsibilities encompass a wide range of duties, including but not limited to:

  • Managing loans from approval through completion, including legal due diligence, and satisfaction of conditions in line with our bank's policies.

  • Overseeing the loan book, handling repayments, security amendments, loan variations, and ongoing AML due diligence.

  • Approving waivers and variations within Delegated Authorities, as long as they do not impact credit risk.

  • Collaborating with the Banking and Credit teams on pre-sanction lending opportunities.

  • Working closely with internal and external parties to align with the bank's mission, business plan targets, and risk management objectives.

Key Accountabilities of the Lending Manager:

  • Prepare finance documents in accordance with the terms of sanction and mitigate legal and operational risks.

  • Instruct professional advisors in compliance with bank policies and procedures.

  • Coordinate with borrowers, solicitors, and counterparts to ensure conditions precedent are met before drawdown.

  • Keep colleagues in Credit and Banking informed about loan progress.

  • Collaborate actively with the Head of Lending Services, Banking, and Credit to identify and resolve issues.

  • Maintain accurate records, including in Aurius.

  • Manage all loan documentation and security post-drawdown, including prepayments, account changes, and closures.

  • Provide support and training to colleagues within the Lending Services team.

  • Assist the Head of Lending Services or Director of Credit with ad hoc projects and tasks.

  • Arrange the collection of loan fees due to the bank and other lenders when necessary.

  • Oversee the monthly Direct Debit for loan repayments and promptly report any unpaid Direct Debits.

  • Support Banking and Credit on lending opportunities pre-sanction.

  • Recommend new procedures and documentation to enhance processes and provide a best-in-class service while mitigating legal and operational risks whenever possible.

Experience required of the Lending Manager

  • Extensive experience in loan operations and credit risk management.

  • Strong knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
