Are you seeking a new role within procurement? Then this is just for you as we are looking for a Buyer to join our client’s team on a permanent basis. The Buyer will be handling various suppliers and will be delivering improvements within cost and quality. The ideal Buyer will need to come from a food/retail/hospitality buying background and will be extremely organised. Experience within the public sector is preferred but not essential.
This will be hybrid working for 3 days in for the first 3 months then this drops to 2 days in.
Key Responsibilities for the Buyer:
You will support the Category Manager to develop the end-to-end procurement process for the core food Fruit & Veg category team.
Plan, prepare for negation and write contract renewals as well as support and schedule supplier relationships.
Supporting CSR Commitments
Engage with culinary teams and development chefs and support their client food strategies by providing products meeting their requirements.
Drive volume growth, negotiate sustainable terms, and provide value and benefits to the clients.
Execute long-term food vision, delivering sustainable improvements in terms of cost, quality, service, and innovation.
Liaise with their supply chain team and report to category any concerns, SLA issues, distributor, and supplier challenges.
Manage category-related queries from internal and external stakeholders.
Submit monthly price filters for external clients onto the procurement systems.
Skills Required for the Buyer:
Results Oriented – comfortable delivering against bold and stretching targets.
Experience in a buying role within food/retail/hospitality.
Has the desire to become a subject matter expert across a category of choice.
Competent with procurement systems, ideally having used these in current/previous employment.
Demonstrated ability to develop credible business relationships.
