We are recruiting an experienced Claims Handler with a keen eye for detail and exceptional investigation skills to join our clients dynamic team. As a key player in their claims department, you will specialise in processing fire and theft claims, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in every step of the process.

Key Responsibilities of the Claims Handler:

  • Process fire and theft claims in accordance with existing claims philosophy.

  • Adhere to Data Protection Act (DPA), Treating Customers Fairly (TCF), and other regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with internal support teams and external suppliers to deliver excellent customer service.

  • Answer inbound calls professionally, addressing queries, complaints, and providing updates on claims.

  • Identify potential third-party claims exposure in theft claims, particularly when stolen vehicles may be recovered damaged.

  • Flag suspicious claims to the Fraud Investigation Team.

  • Record complaints accurately and in a timely manner on the complaints system.

  • Provide support to the Team Manager by achieving performance objectives, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

  • Plan and execute strategic initiatives within agreed timelines.

  • Maintain a relevant level of technical understanding through continuous development and learning.

Qualifications and Skills required of the Claims Handler:

  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a polite telephone manner.

  • Capability to vary approach.

  • Tact and assertiveness when dealing with distressed or angry customers.

  • Ability to take on increased ownership and responsibility when necessary.

  • Capability to work individually and proactively, as well as part of a team.

  • Minimum 12 months experience as a Motor Claims Handler.

  • Drive and enthusiasm for meeting targets.

  • Empathy and understanding.

  • Confidence and a professional attitude.
