As the Grants Officer you will be responsible for generating income through funding applications to a wide range of funders, including trusts, foundations, and government grants. Your role is essential in ensuring that projects and services receive the financial support they need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities of the Grants Officer:
Identify funding opportunities and develop high-quality, compelling funding applications.
Secure income from a variety of large and small-scale funders.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create realistic, deliverable, and well-budgeted applications.
Obtain necessary support and advice for the preparation and management of funding applications.
Develop informational resources for stakeholders to support the funding application process.
Build and maintain strong relationships with funders to showcase our charity's work.
Monitor and record data accurately to demonstrate performance.
Handle administrative tasks related to grant management, including database updates.
Produce reports for internal and external stakeholders, including management teams and funders.
Assist in planning and executing marketing and communication activities to promote funding opportunities and highlight successes.
Represent the organisation at events and meetings as required.
Participate in personal development opportunities and mandatory training relevant to the role.
Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the demands of the service, including occasional travel and outside regular working hours.
Perform any other reasonable duties as requested.
Skills required of the Grants Officer:
Proven experience in writing compelling funding applications to secure income from diverse funders.
Familiarity with major funders, including National Lottery, Sport England, central government, and local authorities, as well as smaller grants and trusts.
Knowledge of various funders and the ability to assess suitable opportunities.
Excellent presentation skills for conveying complex project information clearly and engagingly.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, fostering collaboration.
Confidence in representing the organisation to partners, funders, and colleagues.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and cooperativeness.
Proficiency in IT systems, including Outlook, Microsoft Office, and SharePoint.
Self-motivation, strong time management, and organisational skills with a commitment to meeting deadlines.
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
Flexibility for occasional travel, including possible overnight stays.
Experience working within the charity sector (Desirable)
